Welcome to Freemasonry in the Western Cape
It was Sir Francis Drake who described our beautiful corner of Africa as “the Fairest Cape in all the World”. Established in 1772, Cape Freemasonry is almost as old as Cape Town itself and our Mother Lodge, de Goede Hoop, is indeed the oldest active Lodge in the Southern hemisphere.
In our web site, we endeavour to cater for our Brethren, Masonic visitors and interested non-Masons. We provide an insight into our background, history and activities, as well as a selection of articles promoting our philosophies of “truth, morality, brotherly love and charity”.
We trust that you will find the time you spend with us to be of value, that both our Division and the noble qualities of our ancient Order will leave a lasting impression on you and that perhaps you will be stimulated to spend more time with us in the future.
